From Anemotia starts a rather long Trekking Trail. First stop is at Μonastireli, property of Leimonos Monastery. After the region of Χinos Potamos with the small chestnut grove, the Trail moves into a pine forest with mulberries. It is a region on the less beaten track on the island. From the ancient well at Pigados starts the more mountainous part of the course, up to the lash summit of Profitis Ιlias. Reaching a pinnacle in May, the slopes between the pines and the black pines turn yellow from the flowers of the rhododendra (Rhododendron Luteum). The presence of this Asian species of shrub with its heady aroma is unique on the island and the entire Greek and European region. Kryfi Panagia in the rock cave is another ‘encounter’ not to be missed on the mountain.
