The northern base of Mount Skoteino extends above Anaxos and the valley of Petra. The closest peak is the Roudi Hill. On its northern slope the village of Lafionas gazes out to Petra and Molyvos. For the ascend from Petra the Trail in the olive grove passes from the open sanctuary of Saint Dimitrios with parts of an early Christian church under big oak trees. After the picturesque Lafionas the Trail goes through the pine forest and to the west it approaches the clearing with the chapel of Saint Alexandros and his carved burial larnax, while his hermitage is situated a little further up, in the forest, under the pointed peak of a rock. For an alternative approach from the summer resorts (Petra, Avlaki, Anaxos), a small network of local Trails leads to Lafionas and this spiritual spot, with the titanic Rizorachtos Rock in Roudi being the most popular path as it offers a truly panoramic view.
