PIGI / KOMI - AGHIOS CHARALAMBOS

  • At the «Tavros» Plateau
The start for the series of plateaus named ‘Tavros’ is at Pigi village or the nearby village of Komi, with a climb to the plateau of the saint which the most representative one. First stop is at Panagiouda and then the trail enters Paliochori, the location of an old settlement with the small fountain. The Trail stretches parallel to the ravine and becomes steeper inside a neatly terraced olive grove. The olives are succeeded by pines until the precipices of ignimbrite rock that make up the plateau come into view. The level of the formation is revealing. On the rocky ground, through the windblown pines and the bulky rocks, the trail of the Trail leads to the popular chapel of the Saint, or Old Man as the locals call him, on the eastern slope.
